March 11, 2009 -- 17-year-old Tim Kretschmer went to Albertville-Realschule in Winnenden, Baden-Württemberg, Germany where he shot and killed 15 people before killing himself. Tim had graduated from the school one year earlier.

April 10, 2009 -- In a note Dimitris Tachmanidis, 19, said that he was tired of being mocked by fellow students at Hellenic Manpower Organisation's (OAED) vocational school. Friday morning he walked into the school he attended armed with two pistols. He headed for the classrooms but ran into another student on the stairs and fired shots at the 19-year-old. The gunman turned to leave at that time but was confronted by 2 men who worked in a factory nearby. He shot at the two men before running across the road and shooting himself in the head. He died during medical treatment later.

September 17, 2009 -- An 18-year-old in Ansbach, Bavaria, launched an attack on his school armed with Molotov cocktails, knives and an ax. Shortly after classes started Thursday morning the teen (whose name is being withheld due to German privacy laws) entered an 11th grade classroom in the school where he threw Molotov cocktails and attacked the students with the ax. Several people were injured including a 15-year-old female who was hit in the head with an ax and remains in critical condition. 11 minutes after the attack began, the police were on scene following the activation of a smoke alarm when a student smelled smoke. The attacker was shot 5 times in the process of the police detaining him.

October 20, 2009 -- After turning down repeated requests for interviews over the years, Susan Klebold wrote an essay for Oprah Winfrey's O Magazine. In it she described the morning of April 20th, 1999, before her son Dylan left for school. She said she had no idea how sick and suicidal Dylan was until she read his journals after her son's death.

October 21, 2009 -- A 15 year old boy in Monroe, New York, was taken into custody after police discovered he was planning a Columbine-like attack on Monroe-Woodbury High School. He had amassed an arsenal including 4 bottles of gasoline, a torch, a machete, 3 propane tanks, items that could be used as fuses and several other electronic devices. They also seized a black trench coat and 2 computers. The boy's parents say they had no idea he had amassed the arsenal. The boy told police he had been trying to acquire a military assault weapon that could hold as many rounds as possible. He also said that he had a lot of hatred toward his school and that he had been bullied at the school and told that he looked like Eric Harris.
