Thirteen Years...

April 12, 2012 -- Tom Mauser announces his intention to publish his book, Walking in Daniel's Shoes. Its release date was 4-20-2012. It details the Mausers' experiences, from the day of their son's death to what they've dealt with over the years. Mr. Mauser told me he used this site's timelines in order to establish his own for his book. Glad to know the site helped him in his mission.

July 20, 2012 -- 24 year old James Holmes opens fire on an Aurora, Colorado movie theater during the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight. 12 people are killed. Holmes was arrested outside the theater.

November, 2012 -- Sue Klebold speaks at length for the first time about her son Dylan's role in the shootings in the book Far From the Tree: Parents, Children and the Search for Identity.

December 14, 2012 -- Newton, Connecticut. 20 year old Adam Lanza armed himself with weapons his mother owned and allowed him to use. He shot her four times in the head, killing her while she slept, then he went to Sandy Hook Elementary School and murdered 20 first graders ages 6-7 as well as 6 teachers. He had to shoot his way into the building because the school was locked to outsiders during the day and required 'buzzing in' through security doors - which he blasted out. The sounds of gunfire as he killed faculty members were broadcast over the school's intercom as they'd been doing morning announcements at the time. He forced his way into the classrooms where he killed children. When the cops showed up, he killed himself. Lanza attended Sandy Hook briefly as a child and his mother volunteered at the school at some point but apart from being obsessed with Columbine and rampage shooters in general, there has never been a clear motive for the mass murder.

December 21, 2012 -- The Mayan Calendar says that the 5th Baktun has officially ended (give or take a century). And the world marches on. Me, I say that the 5th Age ended with the advent of the internet and the Information Age was begun.
