HOPE Columbine Memorial Library
home > aftermath > new library
A lot of work had to be done to repair the damages done to Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. It was a massive effort involving many people and the donations of still more. Together volunteers successfully renovated the building so it could be opened that fall for the return of the Columbine students. There were many changes to the campus so that the returning students wouldn't be reminded of the violence that had occurred there.

After careful consideration, the old library was completely removed, replaced by an airy atrium. A new library was built to one side of Columbine's main building, on the grassy knoll near the west entrance. The new building was named Hope Columbine Memorial Library, dedicated to the victims of the attack.
